The Fulbright Non‑Degree Visiting Researcher Program 2027–2028 gives doctoral candidates the opportunity to spend 6 to 9 months at a U.S. university, working on research directly connected to their PhD thesis.

The program aims to support academic growth, new ideas, and long‑term cooperation between Serbian and U.S. institutions.

What does the grant cover?

Fulbright Visiting Researchers receive financial support that typically includes:

  • Research‑related university fees
  • A monthly living allowance
  • Health insurance
  • International travel costs

Eligibility requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Be a citizen of the Republic of Serbia
  • Hold at least a master’s degree
  • Be formally enrolled in a PhD program in Serbia
  • Demonstrate good English proficiency (TOEFL testing for selected candidates)
  • Meet J‑1 visa requirements, including the two‑year home residency rule
  • Not be currently studying in the United States
