About the event:

Developed at the University of Denver’s Frederick S. Pardee Institute for International Futures, IFs is a free, open-source forecasting tool that allows us to look ahead and imagine possible futures. It brings together data on the economy, demographics, health, governance, and the environment, covering 188 countries all the way to the year 2100. This powerful tool has already been used by leading international organizations such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), UNICEF, the African Union, and the UN Environment Program to better understand long-term trends and plan for the future.

In this session, you will:

  • Discover how IFs work through a clear and accessible introduction
  • See the platform in action with a live demonstration using data specific to Serbia
  • Explore how long-term structural trends—like shifts in population, economic growth, or environmental pressures—can influence national development and global progress

What makes IFs especially exciting is that you don’t need any technical background to join in. The session is designed for everyone – whether you’re a student, policymaker, researcher, or simply curious about the future. You’ll walk away with new insights into how today’s choices connect to tomorrow’s outcomes, and how tools like IFs can help us think more strategically about the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Come ready to imagine, learn, and discuss how the future unfolds and how we can shape it together.
