About the program:

PopFluence is a two‑session, interactive program that strengthens English language skills through engaging discussions of contemporary American pop culture, using authentic media such as music, film clips, and digital content. Designed as an immersive learning experience, the program goes beyond language practice to explore American values, humor, and social trends as reflected in popular culture.

The first session focuses on American music, tracing the social and historical roots of genres like jazz, blues, rap, country, and rock & roll while examining lyrics, slang, and the rise of genre‑blending artists in today’s post‑genre era.

The second session, American Movies That Changed Movie‑Making, explores influential films and filmmakers who reshaped cinematic storytelling, technology, and global culture, encouraging participant input and discussion. Through guided conversation and multimedia examples, participants build advanced English proficiency while gaining deeper cultural insight into the forces shaping American creative expression.
